Acorn Genetics - Working Solid State Nanopores "Right Now"?
I came across this video from Acorn Genetics recently. I’ve written about Acorn Genetics before, and you can see my discussion of their patent here.
To briefly summarize, Acorn Genetics is a solid state nanopore DNA sequencing company. I want to make that clear, that there’s no doubt that this is what they are pitching:

Solid state nanopore sequencing has historically been the most challenging DNA sequencing approach . No proof-of-concept sequencing data has been shown from solid-state pores. I’d estimate $100Ms have been invested in academic and industrial research here. Research has been on-going for about 25 years.
We’ve previously seen the Acorn Genetics roadmap, which showed the $2M they raised to build their alpha prototype, and sets timing for a beta launch… around now!
So I was interested to hear a progress update in this podcast.
The podcast starts with interesting discussion of the CEO’s circus related activities, followed by a review of sequencing approaches which I found, entertaining:
