Element High-throughput: Vitari

Element have announced the broad specifications for their new high-throughput instrument. Here they are:

• Up to 5B reads per flowcell

• $100 genome

• 2 flowcells, 6 lanes per flow cell

• “Mini-fridge size”

• $689,000

• 2x150bp reads (36hours), moving to 2x300bp in the future.

That $100 cost is less than what Illumina have been recently throwing around ($200). But more than Ultima ($80).
