Current nanopore DNA sequencers run at ~400bp/s a faster readout would solve a lot of problems. In particular:
You would get your data quicker (obviously).
Throughput would increase.
Well lifetime would likely not be decreased, increasing total run throughput, and resulting in a lower Cost/Gb or genome.
Oxford in particular appear to have had trouble pushing well size down, with voltage sensing first discussed 5 years ago, but still nothing in early access.
Would a faster readout give them an easier route forward?
