LEX Diagnostics set to be acquired1 for “up to $140M” by QuidelOrtho. They must really like the technology as they are dumping their own recently released Savanna platform in favor of the Lex Diagnostics approach.
Savanna Issues
Savanna was QuidelOrtho’s sample-to-answer qPCR platform. It was capable of running tests in 25mins, that’s comparable to the GeneXpert (30mins).
QuidelOrtho withdrew the FDA submission for their RVP4 test because it didn’t seem to work very well… they seem to put this down in part to “the prevalence of RSV during the trial period”. But academic work assessing the platform was also fairly negative:
