London Calling - Protein Sequencing
Some interesting work on protein sequencing was presented by Oxford Nanopore at London Calling.
Oxford have clearly been working on a number of approaches toward sequencing. Here they presented what seems to be the most complete system peptides flanked by DNA handles:
The big news is that they’ve gone from looking at small known sets to more diverse peptide datasets this year. Pushing their training peptide datasets to ~150K sequences.
They then used the amino caller to call a peptides derived from a subset of E.Coli and align them back to the total E.Coli proteome. This appears to have worked well:
