So Oxford Nanopore is seemingly suing MGI and BGI for breach of contract. It’s not clear which contract however… over on the Discord someone suggested that the BGI used to be a service provider in China, so it could be related to that.

Or it could just be their regular customer agreements. Perhaps BGI forgot to return a flowcell within the mandatory 60 day period.

In any case the whole thing is somewhat odd. MGI are not currently selling nanopore sequencers, and it’s not clear which countries they are planning to sell nanopore sequencers in. What are the damages going to be for MGI just saying “we’ve developed a nanopore sequencer?”
