The MiSeq i100 - Meh.
Illumina has announced MiSeq i100. An instrument which bares no technological relationship to the original MiSeq. A more accurate name for it would be the “iSeq 2”. Unfortunately the iSeq was so horribly un-popular that this would be a PR disaster.
What do I think of this sequencer… Meh. It’s… fine.
There are a couple of things that are interesting about this instrument. But mostly it comes down to better pricing. Discord user gdub42 reported that kits start at $420. This is significantly cheaper than the iSeq (where kits start at ~$650). And more in line with what you’d currently pay for the smallest MiSeq kit.
