There’s ~100 meters of tubing inside Illumina’s HiSeq X DNA sequencer. In this post I’m going to give a high level overview of the fluidics system. If you’re interested in more information on specific components please reach out on the Discord or via email.

The majority of the tubing appears to be 1.5mm OD ~1mm ID (I’m guessing PTFE?). Using a variety of different connectors1:

Tracing out the fluidic path reveals the following structure:

This configuration is very similar to the original Solexa Genome Analyzer and uses many components from the same vendors.
