There are a large number of smell sensing, “Volatile Organic Compound” detecting startups1. But the use of protein nanopores here interested me.
Unfortunately their site isn’t particularly instructive as far as nanopores go and patents show a different system:
But this article does mention Oxford:
“the physical shells of the sensor are made in partnership with Oxford Nanopore Technologies”
So further speculation is required.
