In this post I want to cover some quick notes on the MiSeq flowcell. The image above shows the basic construction there’s a plastic outer shell into which the glass flowcell fits. It clips open and closed. The plastic chassis has several functions. It contains a RFID chip, it aligns the flowcell in the clip and it contains a gasket which interfaces between the glass flowcell and the instrument fluidics.

The gasket is molded into the chassis plastics:

You can also see the NFC chip in the above image, this seems to be a NXP ICODE SLIX.

I sketched out the flowcell channel itself, it seems to have a total area of 70.9mm^21

I snapped a flowcell in two to try and get better measurements of the channel and cover glass height. There were some suprises here:
