This year I will have published nearly 200 articles on this Substack. For paid subscribers that’s ~$1 per article! I hope I’ve provided reasonable value.
I’ve not found this easy, and while I’m grateful to my paid subscribers. I don’t make enough from the substack to support myself.
So… If you’re not a paid subscriber already, you might want to consider that as well as supporting future growth of the substack you also get access to the complete archive of hundreds of paid posts!
In the run up to the end of the year I’ll be reviewing the articles I’ve written this year. Starting with the company I’ve written about the most: Illumina.
Illumina is clearly facing a lot more competition but still maintains a strong lead in the market. What’s also clear from their patent portfolio is that they have a bunch of interesting IP that they could potentially build on.
While I wasn’t a massive fan of the MiSeq i100, it seems like a well executed product. And I’m kind of excited to see what happens with Constellation, mostly because this seems like it could lead to more of the sample and library prep process being integrated on instrument. That could be important for clinical applications, which given they passed 50% of the market this year, could be potentially be an important driver of growth.
Anyway, here are this all year’s Illumina posts!

Thanks for all the articles Nava. I would say your Substack is consistently one of the best out there. Happy to be able to upgrade once again. All the best for 2025.
